Overview & Highlights

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Cartagena, Murcia, a visit to El Soldadito de Plomo is a delightful must. Nestled on C. Principe de Vergara, this quaint coffee shop stands out with its quirky decor and vibrant atmosphere, reflecting the essence of Spanish culture while appealing to a diverse crowd.

As a food reviewer with Menustic, I cannot help but share the enthusiasm of our patrons. Customers like Hannah Jones rave about the stunning aesthetic combined with a menu that is particularly inviting for plant-based eaters and vegans. Her glowing highlights of the vegan crêpes, refreshing smoothies, and expertly brewed coffee hint at the skill and creativity bursting from the kitchen.

Petar Peric echoes this sentiment, describing the ambiance as both cozy and quiet—an ideal backdrop for enjoying the impressive selection of sweet treats. The homemade brownies and carrot cake are standout hits, perfectly complementing a cup of coffee that promises to satisfy any caffeine lover. With the staff’s warm hospitality and fluency in English, the experience becomes an enriching one.

While some, like TheJu stice, may note a subjective take on the coffee's acidity, the consensus surrounding the welcoming vibe and excellent service remains strong. This speaks volumes about the establishment's dedication to creating a comfortable haven for locals and travelers alike. The rustic and funky decor sets the stage for a lovely escape, making you feel right at home.

Whether you choose to indulge in a cup of coffee adorned with delicate latte art or shy away to savor the best homemade cakes in town, El Soldadito de Plomo is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a gathering place where flavors and friendliness unite. So, next time you're in Cartagena, treat yourself to a cozy retreat at this enchanting café—you'll likely return, just like so many others have!

Gorgeous place, quirky decor and colourful aesthetic. Plant based people/vegans, this is a must go. The vegan crêpes, smoothies and coffee were 10/10, so good I returned twice! Reasonably priced too.

Quiet and cozy little place with amazing and kind service. The coffee was really good, and they have a great variety of sweet treats. Brownies and carrot cake are amazing! Staff speaks really good English and are very nice and friendly. 10/10 recommend it!

If you want to feel Spanish vibes its awesome place. Not my tastes but there is nothing to moan about . Coffee is fine ( bit too much acid for me), cakes are fine, atmosphere is brilliant same like service .

Very nice place for a coffee and some sweets. We had a very relaxing time in a cozy ambiance :) we recommend !

Coffee was good and well presented in glass with nice latte art. The homemade cakes were excellent. The staff was very polite. The atmosphere is very rustic and funky with a hip vibe.

The café is stunning. All furniture is unique, here a bathtub as a sofa, there a suitcase as a table. The paintings on the wall, the music, the vibes and the service speaks for it self . Highly recommend for a small break after walking around the city to enjoy a good coffee, drink and a sweet/salty snack to recharge.

Nice relaxed and quirky atmosphere for a good cup of coffee or tea. The cafe is themed on the story the Little Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Anderson, who stayed in a house nearby. The story is about the soldier's love for his ballerina. Very helpful staff who allowed our friend's small dog to come in.
